Cascade College At a Glance...
Cascade College is a four-year, private, coeducational liberal arts college emphasizing spiritual growth and career preparation. Cascade College offers a close academic community within a vibrant metropolitan area. The full-time faculty and the majority of students are members of the churches of Christ. Established in 1993, Cascade College is a branch campus of Oklahoma Christian University.
The approximately 12-acre campus is located within the city limits of Portland, ten minutes from Portland International Airport and within a short walk of the Metropolitan Area Express train system (MAX). The population of the greater Portland area is approximately 1.5 million. Many natural attractions such as the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Mt. Hood, Multnomah Falls, and the Oregon coast are within a comfortable drive of the campus.
Cascade College has over 300 students from many states and several countries. Cascade students may participate in the Oklahoma Christian University international study programs in Europe and the Pacific Rim.
Degree Programs Cascade College offers degree programs in biblical studies, business, communication, elementary education, English, interdisciplinary studies, psychology and science.
Academic Year The year is divided into two full semesters, with two summer intersessions. Courses are credited in semester hours. The semesters are August to December and January to April. Intersession courses are held May through June.
Accreditation As a branch campus of Oklahoma Christian University, Cascade College is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools [NCA, 30 North LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, IL 60602-2504 (800-621-7440) www.ncahigherlearningcommission.org]. It is authorized by the State of Oregon to offer and confer the academic degrees described herein. It is approved by the Oregon Teachers Standards and Practices Commission to recommend students for teacher licensure in early childhood and elementary authorization levels.
